Ministry of Education has begun issuing tablets to school students under their school digitalization programme.
The ministry has already handed over the tablet to some of the schools in Male'. The schools issued the devices to students on Monday, which also marks the beginning of the second term.
Minister of State for Education, Ahmed Shafeeu, had previously said that under the digitalization project, all schools have now been provided with WiFi connections.
Shafeeu also noted that the schools will begin teaching using the tablets within the second term.
Currently, the Education Ministry has handed over tablets to 8,459 teachers teaching from grade 1 to 12.
In an effort to launch this project, over 70,000 'Huawei' branded tablets were purchased and brought to Maldives to be given to its teachers and students.
