India’s largest online booking agent, EaseMyTrip, has reopened its booking services for the Maldives after a suspension that began in January.
According to Indian media, the company resumed bookings last Friday, following improving relations between the two countries.
EaseMyTrip had stopped booking trips to the Maldives earlier this year amid strained diplomatic ties and social media campaigns in India calling to boycott Maldives. Maldives government had sent a letter to the company seeking clarification for the suspension in January.
The resumption of services follows discussions between EaseMyTrip and the Maldives Ministry of Tourism, as well as recent efforts by the Maldives to strengthen tourism ties with India.

Following the roadshow, Tourism Minister Ibrahim Faisal expressed optimism about a significant increase in Indian tourist arrivals, with hopes that India will become the third-largest tourist market for the Maldives by the end of the year.
India currently ranks sixth in tourist arrivals, a significant drop from its top spot last year. So far this year, Maldives saw 1.4 million tourist arrivals this year, out of which 90,000 tourists arrived from India.
Maldives aims to reach 2 million tourist arrivals by the end of the year.
