Towing of abandoned vehicles on Hulhumale' roads begins

Towing of abandoned and old vehicles from the streets of Hulhumale' has begun today.

Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation said in a post on X that a significant number of vehicles have been towed as part of the traffic decongestion program.

The initiative aims to reduce road congestion, enhance the public transport system, and create a more comfortable experience for pedestrians, according to the ministry.

The ministry is working in collaboration with the police on this effort.

Previous vehicle removals have addressed the issue of abandoned vehicles, but the problem of illegal parking on Hulhumale' streets had increased rapidly. A large number of vehicles continue to be parked on both sides of the roads in Hulhumale'.
