State Trading Organization (STO) on Monday raised the prices of petrol and diesel by 20 laari (MVR 0.20) per litre.
STO has attributed the price change to increases in global fuel prices.
Changes to petrol-diesel rates:
- Petrol: increased from MVR 10.77 to MVR 10.97 per litre.
- Diesel: increased from MVR 11.23 to MVR 11.43 per litre.
This is the fifth time STO has increased fuel prices this year.
The price of petrol was shifted upwards by 31 laari (MVR 0.31) per litre on May 7, while a 10 laari (MVR 0.10) per litre increase was brought to the price of diesel on June 7.
