This year, 1,150 Maldivians performed Hajj, marking the second-highest number in the history of the Hajj Corporation of Maldives. The government is also working to secure an increased quota for future pilgrimages.
Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed has said that all individuals who have received placements for next year’s Hajj pilgrimage will be able to proceed as planned.
Public concerns were raised on social media about some individuals reportedly losing their spots in the Hajj queue.
In a post on X, Minister Shaheem said that everyone allocated a placement will have the opportunity to undertake the pilgrimage through the Hajj Corporation's system.
The Ministry of Islamic Affairs has decided to allocate all Hajj quotas to the Hajj Corporation.
