Parliamentary Group Leader of ruling People's National Congress (PNC), which holds parliamentary majority, has confirmed that the presidential address has been confirmed for this date.
The Constitution stipulates that at the beginning of the first session of each year at the first sitting of the parliament, the President shall address the People’s Majlis on the state of the country, and present proposals for improving the state of the country.
Parliament Regulations state that once the President delivers his address, the minority leader of Parliament must prepare and submit a response.
While the new parliamentary session is set to begin in the first week of February, the parliament has planned to hold two extraordinary sittings ahead of that.
