Over 600 land plots in Hulhumale' have been handed over to recipients from the 'Binveriya' [Land owner] housing scheme, with more than 400 of these having had boundary markers placed as well.
Ministry of Housing, Land and Urban Development said yesterday that 624 out of the 1408 land plots from Hulhumale' Phase 2 granted to Male' residents under the previous government's Binveriya housing scheme have now been handed over. Out of these, 18 were handed over yesterday.
Housing Development Corporation (HDC) is now in the process of placing boundary markers in these land plots.
As per HDC, boundary markers have been placed at 486 properties by the end of last week, with work ongoing at the remaining land plots.
While 1400 land plots from Hulhumale' Phase 2 are being issued to Male' residents under the Binveriya scheme, a total of 9000 land plots have been slated for issuance from Hulhumale', Giraavaru Falhu and Gulhi Falhu.
Reclamation of Hulhumale' Phase 3, Giraavaru Falhu and Gulhi Falhu, where land will be granted under this scheme, is so far incomplete.
Last year's budget review report by the Audit Office, published last month, states that HDC will face a loss of MVR 10.5 billion due to the granting of these land plots under the Binveriya scheme.
