JOALI Maldives temporarily closes down the resort for renovations due to damages from bad weather.
The luxury resort reports of the platform collapsing on Sunday evening, due to a rainstorm and strong gusts.
Movement between the over-water villas and the island is currently suspended due to the platform damage.
The tourist property confirms no one was injured during the incident. Tourists holidaying at the property has been shifted to its sister property JOALI Being.
The resort confirms closing the property for renovation and will reportedly reopen in September.
JOALI Maldives is a top-end getaway resting approximately 42 minutes away via a seaplane ride from Velana International Airport (VIA). The property boasts of 73 private villas.
