The Maldives Meteorological Service (MET) forecasts clearer weather conditions across all parts of Maldives starting from Monday, July 11.
While a white alert has been issued in effect from 1:30 pm until 5:30 pm on Sunday afternoon, July 10, for areas starting from HA. Atoll and ending at Dh. Atoll, the conditions have dissipated on Monday.
According to the MET office, apart from a "few showers, fine weather is expected" while wind speeds are estimated between 7 to 17 miles per hour from the west/northwesterly direction.
The authority forecasts moderate seas with average wave heights between 3 to 5 feet and no advisories released regarding any expected adversary changes in the weather.
The Maldives is currently experiencing its rainy season (the Southwest monsoon) during which several parts of the country experience heavy rainfall coupled with strong gusts and rough seas.
The island nation's communities are currently celebrating festivities related to Eid ul-Adha; an Islamic celebratory period for Muslims, a time in which locals travel between islands to take part in various cultural events.
Authorities had earlier cautioned the public with regards to transportation; especially via sea routes, amid the rainy season as accidents on sea are frequent during this period.
