The remand duration for the seven people arrested in Addu on terrorism accusation has been extended.

In a joint operation conducted by Police and Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) on Saturday, seven people were arrested. No further information about these seven individuals have been released to the public though.

As per Police three of those in custody have a remand duration of 15 days, while the remaining are to be released after seven days.

These operations against terrorism were carried out after an attempted assassination attack on Former President and Mijilis Speaker Mohamed Nasheed on May 6, that gave him grievous injuries. He flew to Germany on May 13 for further treatment of injuries sustained during the attack.
