Buggy services will be free until the end of Ramadan and Fitr Eid
Male’ City Council will commence buggy services in VIlimalé on March 16, according to Malé city Mayor Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
The Mayor said that the buggies required for the service had been brought in Malé on March 2. The council brought a total of 10 buggies for the service.
Speaking about the public transport service, Dr. Muizzu also said that residents of Vilimalé will not be charged for the service during Ramadan except for private hire.
“The buggy services will be free of charge until the end of Eid-ul-Fitr” Muizzu commented.
It was earlier announced that the council would charge MVR 2 for buggy trips. Tthe rates for private hires are:
- MVR 6 for four seat buggies
- MVR 10 for six seat buggies
- MVR 15 for 12 seat buggies
The council further said that children below the age of six, people above the age of 65, people with disabilities registered with NSPA, and school students in their uniform will be able to travel for free.
The buggies consist of two vehicles designed to carry various types of goods, luggage, and boxes, as well as one vehicle intended for transporting patients during emergencies
