Foreign Minister of Maldives, Moosa Zameer, has departed for Saudi Arabia yesterday on an invitation from the Saudi government.

According to a press release issued by the Foreign Ministry, Minister Zameer and central bank Maldives Monetary Authority Governor Ahmed Munavvar, along with Ambassador-at-Large Ahmed Naseer, will be part of a Maldivian government delegation visiting Saudi Arabia at the invitation of Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan.

The Foreign Ministry also stated that during this trip, a special letter from President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu will be presented to Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohamed bin Salman Abdul Aziz.

It is understood that the Central Bank Governor Munavvar will join the trip later.

The four-day visit to Saudi Arabia will include other delegation members such as MACL Managing Director Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed, Joint Secretary Badhoora Saeed, and Director General Aishath Fareena.

During their visit, Zameer and Munavvar will meet with Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, other senior Saudi government officials, and representatives from the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD), according to the Foreign Ministry.

"These meetings will involve discussions on further strengthening relations between the two countries," the Foreign Ministry said.

Minister Zameer recently visited Saudi Arabia to participate in a high-level special meeting convened by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) regarding the Palestinian issue and the deteriorating situation in the Middle East.

Last week, Zameer also made an official visit to Bahrain, where he met with Bahrain's Crown Prince and Prime Minister Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
