President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, on Monday, held official talks at the President’s Office.
During the talks, President Solih conveyed his condolences to the victims and affected families in the recent Easter bombings, a brutal terrorist attack which claimed over 250 innocent lives.
He emphasized the dire need for the international community to combat the threat of religious extremism.
Official talks were held between the high-level delegation of the Maldives and Sri Lanka.

Moreover, President Solih commented on excellent diplomatic ties between the two countries, bolstered by longstanding historical and cultural links. He stated that he hopes the visit will elevate relations to new heights.
Prime Minister Wickremesinghe, highlighted the two countries are connected by historical and sociological links stretching far back to ancient times, with Sri Lanka greatly impacting the Maldives' early settlement and development.
Both leaders reviewed bilateral cooperation on a broad range of spheres, including the fields of health, youth development, education, cultural cooperation, regional governance and security cooperation.
Furthermore, the two then spoke regarding the need for further engagement within the international fora to overcome challenges such as climate change, regional security, trade and maritime issues.
An Agreement of Cooperation and three MoU's were signed during this official visit.
