A local resident at one of the State Electric Company (STELCO) housing towers in Hulhumale' Phase two received burns after a leaky gas cylinder led to an minor explosion.
"Parts of her dress had melted into her skin and her face was very red," a witness to the incident testified.
"It felt like an explosion when the cylinder burst, it was really loud."
The victim had reportedly attempted to light the gas stove, which resulted in the explosion. The explosion however, did not result in a fire breakout in the flat or any other significant property damage.
