The ACC report highlights 2023 as the second highest year for compensation amounts owed to the State from agencies over the course of the last five years. The highest year remains 2019 with demands to agencies to reimburse over MVR 160 million to the State.
The annual report disclosed by the Anti Corruption Commission reveals that over MVR 74 million is owed to the State as reimbursement from amongst cases investigated by the Commission last year and divulged that only an amount of MVR 200,000 from this payment has been acquired thus far.
The report published last Thursday stated that the Commission is taking the initiative to conduct follow-ups to ensure these payments are delivered to the State even though their mandate does not stipulate their involvement in seeking of payments.
Moreover, the reports outlines the decision to obtain MVR 74,159,720.53 to the State in relation to 15 cases investigated by the Commission. The annual report further divulges that the Commission had made follow-ups to ascertain whether the MVR 50,370,521.75 from this amount that has been demanded of various agencies in compensation to the State has been settled.
"It has been observed that MVR 234,531.57 has been reimbursed to the State through five cases mandating payments," the report revealed.

ACC's annual report further reveals that 1151 cases were lodged to the Commission last year of which 561 cases were submitted anonymously, making up the majority of the total annual cases.
ACC had registered 742 cases from the total number of cases submitted to them last year.
Last year, cases related to housing had reigned superiority in submitted numbers with 216 cases while the next highest number of cases were procurement related with 155 cases lodged in relation.
