China National Electric Engineering Company Limited (CNEEC) has been awarded the construction project for a 100-bed tertiary hospital to be built in both Haa Dhaal atoll Kulhudhuffushi and Gaaf Dhaal atoll Thinadhoo.
The project has been awarded to CNEEC at a cost of USD 38 million.
According to the health ministry, the project was officially handed over to the company yesterday, with a requirement to complete the work within a timeframe of two to six months from commencement.
The agreement was signed on behalf of the ministry by Senior Executive Abdul Hannaan Hussain, while the CNEEC's Vice President Jin Hui signed the agreement on behalf of the company.
Both islands already have operational hospitals, and the current administration has undertaken further developments to expand their healthcare services.
Developing tertiary hospitals in five regions of the country is a commitment of the current government. These hospitals will be established in Haa Dhaal atoll Kulhudhuffushi, Gaaf Dhaal atoll Thinadhoo, Raa atoll Ungoofaaru, and Laamu atoll Gan. The Addu City tertiary hospital was inaugurated in 2020.
