Late Hussain Salahuddin has been posthumously awarded the National Award for Service to Nationalism today.
This newly introduced award to the National Awards is the highest honour presented by the President to those who have served Maldives Nationalism in exceptional ways.
The Award was launched in today's National Day ceremony, highlighting the importance of recognizing those who have served to strengthen the pillars of nationalism, and served in various areas.
The award was presented in memory of Salahuddin for his exceptional service in education. The shield of honour was presented by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu to Salahuddin's eldest grandson, Hussain Shihab.
Salahuddin's family, including Chief Justice Muththasim Adnan, Ahmed Shihab and Ismail Shareef also attended the ceremony.
The presentation shown at the ceremony highlighted Salahuddin's great service in spreading Islamic knowledge and education in the country.
Salahuddin has authored over fifty books. This includes 'Dhonbeefaanu Vahaka' and 'Nu-uman wa Mariyam', which are considered Dhivehi literary classics.
