State Trading Organization (STO) has said that the company is gearing up to offer a variety of food items that will be easily available during the upcoming month of Ramadan.

The company assured that it will ensure the availability of essential food items without any difficulties during the month of Ramadan, which begins on March 11. Efforts are underway to guarantee a smooth and accessible supply of these items.

STO will import onions, potatoes, and eggs specifically for the month of Ramadan this year as well. The company has also committed to making additional efforts to import various staple food items this year.

Currently, STO is creating space in its storage units to accommodate the upcoming food shipments.

Addressing rumors of an alleged ban placed by India on onion exports to the Maldives, STO assured that there are no difficulties in procuring onions.

"Same as before, STO will continue the provision of a stable supply of onions. In a review of the market trend for the past two months, rates of onions have been dropping in the Maldivian market," STO said in a message for the media.

Regardless of India’s cessation on exporting onions to some countries, the High Commission of India located in Maldives corroborated today that Maldives is not included in this list.
