A Maldivian national traveling from Bandaranaike International Airport in Sri Lanka was apprehended after authorities discovered a weapon in his luggage.
Sri Lankan media reported that a 58-year-old Maldivian, departing last night, was taken into custody.
According to Sri Lankan media, police reported the discovery of a presumed weapon, believed to be a revolver, during a luggage inspection. Sri Lankan authorities are investigating the incident further.
Local media sources reported that the item in question was a lighter resembling a revolver. However, no official statement has been released by local authorities on the matter so far.
