France international Dimitri Payet will miss the next three weeks after the Marseille playmaker injured his knee in Sunday's 1-0 win at Caen in Ligue 1.
Payet limped off midway through the first half of his side's victory following a clash with Caen defender Paul Baysse.
The 31-year-old underwent medical tests on his return to Marseille which revealed a sprained ligament in his left knee, the club said.
He was replaced at the weekend by Morgan Sanson, who scored the only goal of the game as Marseille ended a wretched run of nine matches without a win in all competitions.
