Minister Ameen said that the parking systems can accommodate 275 vehicles and will be operational within a few months.
The mechanical parking systems located in Hulhumale' Phase 1 will be relocated to Hulhumale' Phase 2 within three months, Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation Mohamed Ameen said yesterday.
Speaking to reporters, Minister Ameen stated that the parking racks, previously managed by the Housing Development Corporation (HDC), have been transferred to the Ministry of Transport through the Ministry of Finance. These racks will be relocated to land allocated to the ministry within the next month.
"Approximately 275 vehicles can be parked there. As part of this work, we will make the parking racks fully operational," Ameen said.
He added that all racks will be placed in one location, with special parking slots allocated for people with special needs and the police. Public parking will be offered at a very low rate, he added.
Minister Ameen also said that planning for the allocated land in Hulhumale' Phase 2 is nearly complete, with 95 percent of the work finished.
"The relocation will begin within a few months, and we aim to make it usable by then," he said.
