PPM, PNC coalition hosts primary for six constituencies

The joint coalition formed by Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) and Peoples' National Congress (PNC) on Friday hosted primary elections for six constituencies.

Primaries were held for Felidhoo, Meemu Mulak, Makunudhoo, Alifushi, Thulusdhoo and Kimbidhoo.

Ahmed Hussain won the primary for Alifushi constituency, former deputy Home Minister Ahmed Siddiq won the Thulusdhoo constituency.

Meanwhile, former Managing Director for Male Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) Fazul Rasheed secured the Felidhoo constituency.

Makunudhoo constituency was won by Yashfa Abdul Ghanee, Mulak constituency was won by Mariyam Zuhainaa Sadiq and Kibidhoo constituency was won by Ahmed Khaleel.

Some cabinet members of the previous government and parliamentarians from PPM were given the party ticket without a primary.

PPM had given 53 members the party ticket and PNC has given former Defence Minister Adam Shareef and former Economic Minister Mohamed Saeed party ticket to represent the party in the coming parliamentary elections.
