The President of China, Xi Jinping, has officially welcomed President Dr Mohamed Muizzu today.
President Dr Muizzu is currently on a state visit to China, at the invitation of President Xi Jinping. He is accompanied by First Lady Sajidha Mohamed and several government dignitaries.
Upon President Dr Muizzu's arrival at the People's Great Hall, he was given a red carpet welcome by President Xi Jinping and First Lady Madam Peng Liyuan.
President Dr Muizzu received a 21-gun salute on arrival.
The national anthems of both countries were played by the Chinese Military Band, while children waving the flags of both countries proceeded to greet the Presidents.
There was also a Guard of Honour present on the ocassion.
This is President Dr Muizzu's first state visit to China. It is also the first state visit from a leader of a nation to China within 2024.
President Dr Muizzu travelled to China last Monday. He arrived in Beijing last night, after spending the initial days in Fujian province conducting several meetings.
