Nasrulla Ahmed (Nasru), who has participated in the most number of marathons in the South Asian region, completed the special marathon in Anatolia, Turkey on March 5.
Nasru completed the Runtalya Marathon in 3 hours and 37 minutes. This is his third marathon he has taken part in within almost a month, bringing his marathon tally to 89.
He has participated in two previous marathons, one in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE), and one in New Delhi, India. He completed both marathons in under four hours. He completed the Dubai Marathon in three hours and 36 minutes. The Delhi Marathon was completed in three hours and 35 minutes.
Nasru, who is also a marathon coach, said he would dedicate the Runtalya marathon to a runner who is being trained under him. However, he did not specify which runner it was.
"I will dedicate the marathon to a runner who is training under my supervision. I will not reveal who it is. I will hand over the finishing medal to the runner," Nasru said.
Ahmed Naseer, who is training under Nasrulla, competed in the half marathon category of the Runtalya Marathon. He completed the half marathon in 1 hour and 41 minutes. Nasru said the 52-year-old's timing was satisfactory for his age.
"He is quite fast for his age. But my target is for him to complete the half marathon in 1 hour and 30 minutes," Nasr said.
Nasru had said he hoped to complete his 100th marathon this year. He will have to compete in 11 more marathons to reach that target.
Nasru began his sports career in 1999 with the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) Marathon. He said 2018 was the most special year in his career, in which he ran a total of 13 marathons, all of which he finished in under four hours. Last year, Nasru completed 10 marathons.
