The head coach and two players from China's Yunnan province have arrived in the Maldives to train Maldivian players for this year's Indian Ocean Island Games.
China's table tennis (TT) development hierarchy is divided into provinces as sub-associations. Hang Anguo, who arrived in the Maldives yesterday, is the head coach of the province where he runs development pools.
TT Association Maldives (TTAM) President Ali Rasheed said that a training programme for local players will be conducted under the supervision of Anguo until March 18.
Anguo, who was accompanied by two players, He Xiang and Xiashu Chen, will play training matches against the local players.
“We will focus on improving the game of the Maldivian players,” Ali said.
The Chinese coach and two players arrived in the Maldives at the initiative of Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives Wang Lixin and Minister of Youth, Sports, and Community Empowerment, Ahmed Mahloof.
