World Freestyle Football Association (WFFA) announced this November, it has confirmed Maldives as the newest member of its Global Network.

The WFFA's Global Network now includes 116 countries, including the latest addition.

The new incorporation of the Maldives comes as the result of the agreement between the WFFA and local athlete and community leader Mohamed Saif Zahir; popularly known as "Superman". Zahir is one of the country's most successful and celebrated freestylers, recognized WFFA.

Moreover, this deal will help boost the development of the Maldives scene with the constant support and guidance of the WFFA.

Speaking about the newest WFFA member, the association's President Steve Elias said, "We are extremely happy to welcome a new member to the organized Freestyle Football community worldwide: it's really exciting to see how the sport keeps extending unstoppably at a global scale. We're really looking forward to supporting the expansion of Freestyle Football in the Maldives and in the whole region".

Mohamed Saif Zahir, the newly appointed WFFA Country Leader in the Maldives, speaking about the island nation becoming the association's member said, "I am honored by the responsibility of guiding and supporting the development of the local Freestyle Football community in my homeland. We have a number of rising talents that will definitely benefit from our affiliation with the WFFA: I can't wait to start working with them and the Association to grow the sport in the Maldives".

The Head of the Global Network at the WFFA and a leading figure in the establishment of the deal, Pekko 'PeGe' Piirto expressed his joy on the continued expansion of the Global Network.

"The growth of our sport is a source of great joy and hope for the future. I'm certain that Saif will do an amazing job at helping the local community thrive and flourish", Piirto added.

Zahir is the reigning freestyle champion from both Redbull Street Style Championships, first held in 2010 and then in 2012. In 2010, he also represented Maldives at the World Championships held in Africa and then in Italy.
