W Maldives has launched a vegan pop-up menu by celebrity Chef Priyanka Naik that will be available for its guests till October 2023. The initiative in collaboration with Chef Priyanka, a prominent champion of sustainable cooking, will boost the resort’s culinary offerings. The Go W-egan menu was introduced on the occasion of World Vegan Day, a day that invites global communities to embark on conscious gastronomical journeys.

The Food Network champion and author of "The Modern Tiffin" was recently in the Maldives for a special Marriott Bonvoy Moments experience at the W Maldives. This experience included a trip to the nearby farms at Thoddoo island, where she hand-picked ingredients and purposefully created the dishes on her menu around the easily accessible sustainably sourced fruits and vegetables.

While creating the menu, Chef Priyanka worked closely with Maldivian chefs at the resort, including Chef Baka and Chef Rishma, who provided her with additional insights and assisted her in infusing a local flavour into each course. During the 4-day activity, Chef Priyanka Naik taught a unique sustainable cooking class for resort visitors, providing them with advice on how to create great dishes. The guests were taught tips on how to recreate their leftover food to minimise wastage and still have a scrumptious meal.

The W Maldives' extensive and varied vegetarian and vegan menu now includes the two appetizers, two main courses, and one dessert that Chef Priyanka has created. The Go W-egan menu offers meals like Chili Sesame Dressed Charred Sweet Potato with Fresh Coriander & Toasted Almonds, Double Textured Spicy Blistered Eggplant in Peanut Sauce, and Spiced-up Watermelon Mint Salad in Tahini Lemon Crema.

The General Manager of W Maldives, Idu Ribeiro, commented on the ingenuity of the collaboration, saying, "At W Hotels Worldwide we are continuously looking to improve our Beverage & Food offerings with a difference and with an increasing focus on sustainability. This organic, creative endeavour with Chef Priyanka is a fantastic method to make it happen at W Maldives.”

Priyanka Naik is regarded as an expert in the fields of sustainable cooking, vegan cookery, fashion, travel, and television. She has developed a loyal following online that numbers over 200,000. She is an avid traveller who has visited close to forty countries. Her globally inspired creative dishes with an emphasis on sustainability have been published on her blog. Additionally, she has been extensively profiled in a number of editorial journals, such as Forbes.
