Maldives condemns Israeli airstrike on Gaza

The Government of Maldives condemns the "latest aggression and airstrikes" by Israeli forces on Palestine territory of Gaza.

Maldives government on Sunday, August 7, in a statement conveyed sincere condolences and sympathies to the families of the victims of the Israeli aggression.

In addition to this, the Maldives state remains "deeply concerned" by the disproportionate use of force by Israeli forces on unarmed civilians in the occupied territories, including on women and children.

Moreover, the island nation's government also recalled that the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories were in direct violation of international law and relevant UN Security Council and General Assembly resolutions.

The island nation further hopes for a lasting peaceful resolution of the conflict.

Closing the statement, Maldives government further reaffirmed its solidarity with the people and the Government of Palestine, reiterating steadfast commitment to "work closely with international community to advocate the cause of Palestine."
