Ministry of Health on Thursday, hosted an awareness session on Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) specially curated for students at the Maldives National University (MNU).
Co-hosted by Maldives Food and Drug Authority (MFDA), World Health Organization (WHO) and MNU in light of the World Antibiotic Awareness Week, the session was joined by 116 students.
The organizing parties highlighted the spread of antimicrobial resistance and the implications of it, including the inability to treat previously curable infectious diseases and discussed national and individual methods to tackle the issue.
The session concluded with a question and answer component. State Minister of Health Dr Shah Abdulla Mahir and WHO Representative to Maldives Dr Arvind Mathur conducted the forum.
