Fuel Supply Maldives (FSM) has suspended from duties the staff who made public a video showing the destroying of a large number of documents in a concrete mixer in Thilafushi.
FSM Meter Technician Ahmed Anees, who shared the video on social media, said that he made the video public as there are allegations that the documents being destroyed are related to acts of corruption committed within FSM.
Anees said that the method of disposal is not according to regulations, and this is what gave rise to suspicions and the consecutive publicizing of the video.
Anees revealed that after the video was circulated on social media, he was summoned to the HR department and directed to stay home until further notice.
"They already had the suspension letter ready when I went there," he said, adding that the letter did not provide any details of the reason for his suspension except "a matter under investigation".
When Mihaaru contacted FSM Managing Director Mohamed Gasam, he stated he was abroad on vacation and unaware of the details of this matter.
Anees' suspension letter was signed by FSM CFO Aishath Fayaza.
