The Office said that heavy rainfall with thunderstorms are expected in the upcoming 24 hours, particularly in the central and northern Maldives.
"Seas will be moderately rough," said the Office.
MET Office predicts the south and southwest to experience gusts from the west and northwest at 18 miles per hour with wind gusts expected to accelerate to 40 miles per hour.
While the most part of Maldives has been subjected to rainfall since Sunday, four sea accidents have been reported to the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) last night alone.
MNDF Coast Guard had attended to the site of three of these incidents, revealed MNDF.
No persons were injured during any of these accidents.
Statistics divulged by MET indicate that Fuvahmulah City, the second southernmost atoll is the country, had experienced the most rainfall last night with 68 millimeters of rain. The second highest rainfall was observed in Gaafu Dhaalu atoll Fares-Maathodaa, which is located in the south central province and received 45.6 millimeters of rain.
