Maldivian students have completed the junior astronaut program for the first time in the Maldives.
Thirty-two Maldivian students completed the Canadian Space Emergency Junior Astronaut Program held by Institute for Global Success (IGS) in Male' city and Kulhudhuffushi of Haa Dhaalu atoll.
The certificate award ceremony of the Canadian Space Agency was held at Stelco's event hall yesterday.
The program taught how to keep fitness and diet in space, space science and technology, and how to work together with a team of astronauts.
IGS said the institute will provide students who completed the program with the opportunity to seek further training at NASA next year.
IGS is the only institute working to promote space science in the Maldives. The institute has initiated the Maldives Space Program and works are underway for the first satellite prototype in the Maldives.
