Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has been appointed as the partner for Maldives' first space program.
Managing Director of HDC Suhail Ahmed signed the agreement as the main partner of the program conducted by the Institute for Global Success (IGS). CEO of IGS Riffath Mohamed signed the agreement on behalf of the company.
With the appointment of HDC as the main partner of the project, IGS will assist the program in various ways. The space program will be conducted for the first time in the Maldives.
Preparation, design and launch of space crafts in addition to scientific research will be conducted in the Maldives. Participants of the program will be briefed by experts from the U.S.
IGS and KSF Space Foundation of the United Kingdom have signed an agreement to train Maldivians. Under the agreement, training programs will be conducted with the grant assistance of the foundation.
The aim of the program is to expand the science sector and create Maldivian astronauts in the future.
