Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has opened the opportunity for the public to name the first space mission of the Maldives.
HDC, the main partner of the program conducted by the Institute for Global Success (IGS), tweeted that it is seeking a "cool and catchy" name for the space mission.
To submit a name, a form is to be filled before the 16th and submit it for the chance to be a part of the first space mission of the Maldives.
The first space mission team in the Maldives consists of seven young people under the age of 30, consisting of two women and five men. The team is made up of aerospace engineers, mechanical engineers and computer science graduates.
According to IGS all the members of the team have completed a Nano engineering professional course. The course teaches them to make and launch satellites and to conduct scientific research.
The space mission aims to test the Maldives first "prototype satellite". It is a satellite developed to collect information on global warming and climate change
The director of this space mission is India's Dr. Srimathy Kesan who led NASA's space mission to launch the smallest satellite in 2017.
