The curfew placed in Greater Male' Area to control the rapid surge in COVID-19 cases has been lifted.
The curfew initially went into effect on May 12. Later, Male' Area was locked down on May 26, with the restrictions being loosened over time. The current curfew in place is from 8:00 pm to 4:00 am, and a police permit is required if one is to be out during curfew hours.
When curfew is lifted, dine in services at cafe's and restaurants will be extended till 11:30 pm. Cinemas, and physical fitness, and sports activities can be held as per the guidelines Health Protection Agency (HPA) will set.
Public gatherings can be held if less than 30 people will be attending.
However, tournaments will not be held.
Additionally looser travel restrictions were also announced today, allowing for over inter-island travel for people that have received both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.
