The state has charged former officials from the Ministry of Health for allegedly facilitating corruption in the procurement of ambulances back in 2020.

The state has charged several former Health Ministry officials with allegedly facilitating corruption in the procurement of ambulances for the country.
The accused individuals allegedly violated a procurement announcement made by the Ministry in February 2019 for diesel ambulances, instead awarding the contract to a private firm that supplied petrol run ambulances.
Reports indicate that the individuals charged in the case include former Deputy Minister of Health Nishama Mohamed, former bid committee member Ahmed Nasir, former Director of the Ministry Ahmed Aslam, and Shina Ahmed.
The case was sent to court last March, with all four individuals charged with misuse of their official status.
As this case progresses, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) previously requested charges in another case involving former Health Ministry officials, including the then-minister Abdulla Ameen and several bid committee members. This case concerns the procurement of ventilators needed to manage the Covid-19 situation in 2020.
However, the Prosecutor General's Office decided not to proceed with the case due to insufficient evidence.
