Urbanco has denied the authenticity of a list circulating on social media that claims 34 housing flats in Hulhumalé will be given to members of its top management.
The issue came to light after an alleged memo circulated on social media, purporting to offer some flats from privately built mixed residential units in Hulhumalé for sale to Urbanco employees with a list of its board members, directors, and managers. The company stated that the alleged list is baseless and has been doctored by someone.
In a statement, Urbanco said that some mixed residential units under the company's Staff Housing Scheme were opened for sale last year, and 34 units remained unsold.
Urbanco announced the sale of remaining 34 units to its staff stating that some of its employees were unable to apply for the Staff Housing Scheme when it expired.
Urbanco further said that over 800 of its employees have become eligible to apply for the housing units, which are issued under specific policies and regularly reviewed by the company's internal audit.
