President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih appoints Ahmed Ahid Rasheed as Information Commissioner on Monday.
President's Office said he was appointed for the role in a ceremony held in the President's Office.
Ahid was working as the Governance Manager at Transparency Maldives prior to the appointment. He had previously worked as their Senior Legal Advisor in addition to Senior Project Coordinator as well.
He has also worked a Legal Officer in Anti-Corruption Board and as the CEO of Maldives Volunteers Corps as well. According to the Presidency Maldives, Ahid had graduated from UK's Staffordshire University with Bachelor of Law with Honours.
In addition to Ahid, three other names were sent to the Parliament by the President's Office.
The previous Information Commissioner Hussain Fiyaz Moosa had resigned from the post earlier this year. He was appointed to the post in 2019.
