A four-year-old child, on Saturday, drowned in Maafushi, Kaafu Atoll.
The child was a native of the southern island atoll of Fuvahmulah.
According to Maldives Police Service, the boy was taken to the health centre before police forces could respond to reports of the incident.
Further, the police received information indicating that the boy exhibited no signs of life once brought back to land.
Police are currently investigating the matter.
