Sonee Fishing has concluded the first tournament "Kandufoari" fishing race series.

The tournament was held as a special event to introduce Sonee Fishing’s "Kandufoari" fishing application developed in association with Unix Sports. The launching ceremony was officiated by prominent local fisherman Adam Naseem.

The application was developed for participants to provide real-time updates of their catches and upload pictures of the fish to earn points. While the online application was launched, Sonee Fishing confirmed that a series of physical fishing tournaments are planned as well.

Sonee Fishing launched the fishing race to generate interest among the local fishing communities and endorse fishing activities in the country with its app and the tournament.

A total of five teams competed in the team category of the first tournament, while several participants took part in the solo category virtually.

Winners were selected by a special judging panel.

Team Banoon took home first place and won the cash prize of MVR 15,000 and a gift voucher from Sonee Fishing worth MVR 10,000. The runner up of the team category, Captain Boat Club won a cash prize of MVR 10,000 and a gift voucher worth MVR 8,000. Third place winner, Triton Fishing took home a cash prize of MVR 5,000 and a gift voucher worth MVR5,000.

While the first fishing tournament concluded successfully, Sonee Fishing confirmed details of future tournaments will be announced on their social media handles.

Sonee Fishing will host one tournament each month throughout the year.
