Sparkhub, on Wednesday, announced its 'Startup Summit Maldives' for 2020.

The purpose of the initiative is to develop startup culture by bringing together entrepreneurs, startups and investors under one platform, allowing participants to network and identify opportunities for further collaboration within the field.

"The startup ecosystem would not be created by the efforts of just one, but it needs a platform where startups, enablers and investors can come together, to share their experiences, talk about their challenge and learn from one another", said CEO of Sparkhub Hussain Jinan.

He attributed the recently launched 'Startup Maldives Network' (SNM) and 'Huddle', an informal gathering of entrepreneurs, as attempts to bridge the gap and pave the way for networking among key figures in the industry.

SNM was realized by the firm to foster development of the startup ecosystem as a regional hub for innovation and establish itself as the birthplace for many successful startup stories originating from the country.

The first 'Huddle' event hosted the co-founders of transportation service 'Avas Ride', advertising firm 'Arcils', service-based classified platform 'GetaHero' and online bookstore turned publisher 'Vaahaka'.

'Arcils' is currently developing a Maldivian folklore inspired open-world adventure video game titled 'Islanders'.
