Housing Development Corporation has fired its Chief Finance Office (CFO) Abdulla Faaid and its Chief Business Officer and head of the media department Ahmed Yameen, both who were suspended amid the Gedhoruveriyaa/Binveriyaa scheme investigations.
HDC has not yet commented on the reason for dismissing Faaid and Yameen.
However, both employees were suspended when the state owned company's former Managing Director Fazul Rasheed went under investigation regarding the Gedhoruveriyaa/Binveriyaa schemes. Despite this, it is unclear how the pair are related to the case.
Fifteen employees, including Faaid and Yameen, were sacked in December last year but later were reinstated and remained suspended as the probe continued.
HDC had earlier said that the measures taken against some of the suspended staff had been lifted.
When it came to light that Fazul's brother and former Deputy Managing Director at MWSC, Mohamed Fazeel Rasheed was given a land plot from Hulhumalé, ACC and Maldives Police Service initiated investigations into the case. Fazul was also suspended in the case, after which he resigned.
However, the authorities have not released any details of the investigation.
