Bank of Maldives (BML) opened an ATM in reclaimed suburb Hulhumale' on Thursday, dedicated solely for US Dollars.

The new ATM, inaugurated by BML's CEO & Managing Director Tim Sawyer at the premises of Renaatus Ithaa Mui building, allows customers to deposit and withdraw USD, make payments and transfer money.

"This is an important step in our efforts to make banking easier for our customers. Since its launch, the US Dollar ATM service has been very well received by our customers", said Sawyer.

According to him, more than 800,000 transactions were made through the bank's USD ATMs within the past year.

"The total withdrawal amount also exceeded USD 490 million in the same period. These figures show that we are able to cater to customer demands through our USD ATMs".

The national bank introduced this service as part of the bank’s plan to expand its presence in Hulhumalé, a city continuously developing as a residential, commercial and industrial location in the greater Male' region.

BML currently has seven ATMs in three different areas of Hulhumalé.

The bank provides services from a network of 37 branches across 20 atolls, 47 Self Service Banking Centres and 110 ATMs established across the country.
