Maldives' National U18 and U20 Handball Teams had both triumphed their first matches against Nepal in the IHF Trophy Asia. They are set to face off against India today and will compete against Nepal on Friday for the last match of the league round.

Maldives is allocated in Zone 2 of the tournament begun at the Sawai Man Singh Indoor Stadium in Jaipur, India alongside hosts, India, Nepal and Bangladesh.
Maldives had triumphed the first match of the U18 team played against Nepal, 36-31 with Shaheem Lahufaan of the Maldivian team selected as the best player of the match.
The U20 national team had also won the match which faced them off against Nepal with a score of 30-28. The best player of this match was awarded to Maldives' goalkeeper, Hussain Yanaal Akram.
While both the team are set to face off against India today, they will compete against Bangladesh on Friday for the last match of the league round. The best two teams of the league round are set to compete against each other in the finals while the teams that come in third and fourth will battle on the court to decide the bronze winner.
The country's U17 and U19 Women's team had also contested in the IHF Trophy last year. Both teams had emerged in third place after clinching success over Nepal.
