Maldives Customs has seized drugs from a 65 year old Maldivian man who arrived in Maldives on Sri Lankan Airlines on Wednesday.
Customs said that 9 kg of drugs had been seized from the man, an air cargo shipment brought to Maldives on Wednesday, and a post package.
During first stage testing, the substances included have been identified as synthetic cathinone, heroin, cannabis and ecstasy.
Customs found 349 grams of heroin in the possession of the man.
The package brought in through post contained 582 grams of synthetic cathinone.
Together with the cannabis and ecstasy, the total weight of the seized drugs come to 9 kg, Customs said.
Customs has handed over the man and the seized drugs to Police for further investigation.
