Three cars were damaged in an accident that occurred on Sinamale' Bridge's adjoining highway on Tuesday.
The incident transpired at approximately 1415 hours when a traffic cone blew into oncoming traffic, forcing an approaching car to make a sudden stop. The two cars behind it subsequently collided.
Maldives Police Service revealed that the three cars involved in the pile-up were utilized for taxi purposes and that all drivers held valid driving licenses.
Further investigations concerning the accident are ongoing.
Currently, areas of the highway are cordoned off in order to carry out maintenance work such as rust removal and repainting of the fence as well as replacing wooden dividers with concrete ones.
Numerous accidents have occurred on the Sinamale’ Bridge since its opening in September 2018.
