Transitional Committee Spokesperson Mohamed Firuzul has announced that one thousand members of the public can attend the presidential inauguration ceremony of President Elect Dr Mohamed Muizzu.

Speaking at a press conference held Tuesday at the President Elect's Office, Firuzul said that 3,500 persons will be attending the November 17 function through special invitation.

He stated that additionally, arrangements are being made to accommodate one thousand citizens in the function. Special consideration is being given to minimizing the cost of the function, he added.

Parliament Secretariat has said that while the function is organized to be held at the Republic Square, it will be relocated to the parliament premises if faced with adverse weather conditions.

The inauguration is being organized by the MNDF welfare company SIWEC. It is estimated to cost MVR 22.9 million. SIWEC has currently cordoned off the Republic Square and has commenced work on the preparations.

Parliament Secretariat is also collaborating with President Elect's Office to organize the inauguration of President Elect Muizzu and Vice President Elect Hussain Mohamed Latheef.
