Foreign envoys call on Vice President Faisal Naseem

Several ambassadors and foreign dignitaries, on Tuesday, paid courtesy calls on Vice President Faisal Naseem at separate meetings held at the President’s Office.

Ambassadorial representatives to Maldives that visited the Vice President include Turkish Ambassador Şakir Özkan, Thai Ambassador Chulamy Chatsuwan, Canadian ambassador David Bruce Mckinnon and Australian Ambassador David Holly.

Additionally, International Organization for Migration (IOM)’s Regional Director for the Asia Pacific Maria Mortus and United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Country Director Rishu Nekken also paid courtesy calls on Vice President Faisal.

During the meetings, Vice President Faisal extended gratitude towards respective ambassadors and organization representatives for their participation in the Maldives’ Partnership Forum 2019 which was held from June 17-18 at Kurumba Kurumba Maldives.

Hosted under the theme, 'Investing in a Resilient and Sustainable Maldives', the event marked the first occasion in a decade that the country invited close bilateral and multilateral partners to deliberate on the direction of government and its main priorities.

Several Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) were signed at the Forum which was deemed a success for demonstrating new pathways for collaboration with development partners from across the world.

In response to Vice President Faisal's remarks, the foreign envoys and institutional directors all expressed eagerness to increase collaboration in vital areas and further develop pre-existing relationships.
