Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has handed over a land plot yesterday to the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation for the temporary parking of vehicles which have been registered to zones other than Male' until transfer of registration.

The 40,000 sqft land plot is located in front of the MACL flats in Hulhamale' Phase 2.

The allocation letter was presented to Transport Minister Mohamed Ameen by HDC MD Ahmed Fazul Rasheed.

The Transport Ministry said that this land will be used for the temporary parking of vehicles in Male' and Hulhumale' registered to zones other than Zone A.

The Ministry has previously announced that owners will be responsible for taking the vehicles to this land, so as to avoid damage or fees through towing.

The government has decided to grant a six month period within which these vehicles will be reregistered for use in the relevant zone.

Owners of vehicles registered in other zones are granted a period of 40 days to remove the vehicles from the streets and take them to the allocated land. The ministry said that vehicles which are not taken to the land plot within this period will be towed.
