Denmark's Maersk Line to resume shipping operations to Maldives

Maersk Line, the world's largest container shipping company, has decided to resume shipping operations to the Maldives.

Maersk Line finalized the resumption of weekly travels between Colombo and Maldives. The Danish company assured the transit of goods between a period of 18 - 26 days.

"The fast-growing tourism field in the Maldives has expanded the market to other fields as well. Ninety percent of Maldivian imports are from India, Sri Lanka and China. This weekly travel between Colombo and Maldives will further strengthen business within these areas", Steve Felder had said in an interview to foreign press.

Maersk Line is one of the most experienced shipping lines within the area of India, Sri Lanka and China. The global container division and largest operating unit of the Danish conglomerate Maersk Group, it has introduced new technologies for the transportation of goods, such as Advanced Remote Container Management.

Established in 1928, the birth of this shipping line took place in Denmark. Over this long course of being in business, Maersk has amassed a total number of 374 offices in 116 countries, with 786 sea vessels travelling to different parts of the world.
